Wild Wild North
Catch a morning flight to Tamale, the capital city of the Northern region of Ghana, for a game and cultural experience like none other. Camp out in luxe tents with eco-friendly amenities, savor the flavors of their delectable cuisine prepared with healthy, local ingredients that cater to different diets, and engage with the locals to experience their rich, authentic culture.
The Mole National Park protects an area of savannah and forest in northern Ghana. While on your safari drive and canoe safari, spot elephants, leopards, and rare birds that have made the park their home and behold the panoramic views which overlook waterholes where animals drink. To the south of the park, Larabanga village has a centuries-old, Sudanese-style mosque- one of the oldest in Sub Saharan Africa which people from all over the world have traveled to visit.
Mognori Eco Village is a pristine and relatively undisturbed natural environment. The villagers, rich with the traditions of the Hanga clan, are descendants of a Moshi hunter who settled on the land before the slave raids of the 18th century. On your village walking tour, make stops at the local medicine man’s tree, watch the women make shea butter, and visit the chief’s palace- where you can climb to the rooftop lookout. This experience is specially tailored to build environmental awareness and cultural respect while simultaneously supporting conservation efforts and observing wildlife.
